Description
A discussion of the ceramic tile murals of Jean Nison (b. 1922), who is an almost-forgotten mid-20th century modern ceramic artist. Nison was active from the early 1950s through the mid-1960s. Some of her commissions included the Tichenor residence in Long Beach, CA; the Lippincott residence in Scarsdale, NY; the Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church in Berkeley, CA; the "Arts of Daily Living" exhibit in Pomona, CA; and Roosevelt Hospital in New York City. She exhibited at the Museum of Contemporary Ctafts and the Dallas Museum of Art.
